Ever since I started my first proper 9 to 5 job, which was over five months ago, I promised myself I'd buy something special to celebrate. As you can probably tell I'm a big sentimental sap and I wanted to mark the occasion, I realise how silly this seems to other people. I was now finally earning proper money, but it all going on bills, rent and food. I wasn't planning on going on holiday, nothing in the shops was taking my fancy, so why not spend it on something fabulous.
My first thought was to buy a pair of Vivienne Westwood earrings, but nothing jumped out at me. There was nothing which I couldn't live without. I wanted this to be something I actually wanted, not something I bought for the point of it. So I decided to wait until after Christmas when the new collections started to see if something caught my eye.
But while perusing the Mulberry website on Boxing Day, I was actually looking for something for Mama C and not myself, I noticed one of the bags which I been lusting over had gone on sale. Previously I couldn't justify the price, I had wanted to get myself something special but this was just silly. But in the sale it was over 50% off. Math isn't my strong point so I haven't worked out the exact saving, I just know it was a very good deal. So after chatting to Mama C she told me to stop over-thinking it and go for it.
So I did exactly that and clicked 'buy'. Then I waited. And after many false reports of delivery, it was finally in my possession. It actually arrived just as we were pulling out of the driveway on our way to the airport. I have never felt so flustered. I literally ran to the delivery man, scribbled a nearly legible signature, ran into the house pulled it from the packing and stuffed it into my laptop bag. It wasn't until I was back in my flat that I had a proper look and I knew that Mama C had gave good advice <again>.
I am definitely not the kind of person who can splash large amounts of money easily. I tend to over-think all of my purchases, even the little ones. But I do think I made the right decision as every now and then a girl deserves a treat, and I was long overdue one.
I adore the beautiful burgundy colour and the gold studs. When I first saw the bag on the Mulberry website I wasn't keen on the tassels as they aren't really my sort of thing, but they have definitely grown on me.
I have yet to use it as the only place I've been to since being back is my office, and it's not really practical for the amount of notebooks and rubbish I carry around with me. But as soon as I'm going somewhere a little bit more appropriate I will definitely be showcasing it. I can't wait.
LOVE IT!!! Health to enjoy ;) x

ReplyDeleteThat is one gorgeous bag. It definitely makes working worth while. I brought my first big purchase just before Christmas which was a Duffle coat from Jigsaw. The only downside to it, is that if you go out, your constantly checking your bag/coat is okay!
